Recurring Comic Villain

A concept that has been around for a long time, the term "Recurring Comic Villain" ("RCV") first appeared in Bimini Road (before Bimini Road had actually formed) in the planning stages for Anywhere, as described by Lysander.

The Recurring Comic Villain is the bumbling villain who a hero in any game must face several times before the game is over, though the fights are usually pretty laughable until the last one. There may be more than one Recurring Comic Villain in any given game, and duos and trios are both very common.

Recurring Comic Villains are often the tenderhearted type, and will generally throw their lot in with the hero by the end of the game, though only rarely actually join the party.

Famous RCVs

Examples of Recurring Comic Villains in commercial games would be Gilgamesh in Final Fantasy 5, Ozzie in Chrono Trigger, or Solt and Peppor in Chrono Cross.
