Project Earnest Professionalism
This article contains information about a proposed future Bimini Road Group Project.
It is likely to include information of a speculative nature, and may change dramatically as more is decided.
Project Earnest Professionalism is a proposed attempt at a project incorporating the strengths of Bimini Road's various members with a focus on professionalism and earnest effort.
Proposed Measures
Some proposed measures for actually keeping up with the demands of a project like this:
- Regular group meetings
- Specifically designated duties for group members
- A designated "Producer" to keep track of deadlines, manage team, "marketing" and distribution of finished project.
- A designated "Project Lead" to finalize all decisions and hold veto power over all sub-directors.
Project Member Duties
Each area of the game's design should have a designated director in charge of the maintaining cohesiveness within that area. These would include, but might not be limited to:
- Story Director - Assigns tasks to writers, including self and edits their work when they are done, checking for consistent grammar, tone, and continuity.
- Art Director - Assigns tasks to those contributing art for Sprites, Tilesets, Concept Art, Portraits or other "drawn" art appearing in the game, Backgrounds, and User Interface elements. Also in charge of mappers, and ensures that a consistent visual style is seen throughout the project. Acquisition of any graphical resources that are not custom made will also be the duty of the Art Director.
- Sound Director - Assigns tasks to Composers, Sound Effects artists, and Voice Actors. Also in charge of maintaining a consistent audial style throughout the project. Acquisition of any sound resources that are not custom made will also be the duty of the Sound Director.
- Programming Director - Assigns tasks to Puzzle and Minigame designers and programmers, Battle Programmers, User Interface programmers, and Systems programmers. Also in charge of maintaining a consistent code base, debugging, managing beta testers, and combining submitted scripts together.
Note that while individual directors might be tasked with each of these things listed, there is nothing stopping those things from being delegated to others. Additionally, there's no reason that any member cannot perform many different functions--the Sound Director might also do some work as a writer, for example, or a writer might also provide User Interface elements for the Art Director. These designations are merely proposed so as to have clearly defined duties and responsibilities in this project.
Group Meetings
Group meetings should be used for the purposes of status updates on progress made with each member's duties, brainstorming sessions, and designation of directors, producer and project lead.
Members who cannot make group meetings should make an effort to provide some sort of progress report to another group member beforehand so that progress can still be kept up with even when members are absent for whatever reason.
The Wiki may also be used to leave messages between group members who cannot meet on IRC or who can't e-mail the group members they need to talk to for whatever reason.
