General Info
Geared Up is a modern mech comic currently in the planning stage by Ebanis. Most likely it won't be started until after the end of Legend of Nis.
Characters
Destiny Sect
Vayle
Vayle is the High Priest and leader of the Destiny Sect. He's highly religious and cautious. He is, however, intelligent and crafty when he needs to be.
Souta Reandis
Souta is the main character, and, amazingly enough, not an avatar of Ebanis. Souta is fairly lazy and sarcastic, though the conflict he's thrown into cures that to some degree. He's also quite greedy, and while good at fighting, he has no particular fighting style, instead simply seizing any advantage he sees and often fighting "dirty", as it were. Pilots the Revaltz.
Zian Ren
Zian is young and idealistic. He has trained extensively to become an Elemental Fencer, and possesses a great amount of talent when it comes to channeling and controlling elemental energy. However, he's not so good at the fencing part of the title, and has inital problems with pilotting mechs due to his inability to adjust to the control scheme. Pilots the Gemini-01.
Kimu Ren
Zian's sister. Kimu is uptight and determined to maintain her status as a Lady, though this doesn't stop her from fighting(often physically) with Zian and being somewhat tomboyish. She's the sort of girl who would insist on wearing the most elaborate dress possible to some sort of formal occassion, and then gladly go play football with the boys in the muddy backyard in it. She, too, is an elemental fencer, focusing mostly on fencing. She can channel elements decently, but pales in comparison to her brother. Pilots the Gemini-02.
Xian Kenise
An alternate, older version of the Soul's Unrest character, Xian is a 30 year old engineer, and oversees the work on the Destiny Sect's machines. He is something of a genius in this particular area, and incredibly excitable around machines, especially giant robots. Pilots the Gemini-X.
Alexandra Misa
The Chosen, original pilot of Revaltz. She constantly berates Souta and they bicker most of the time. However, they have something of an understanding and work well together.
Defiers
Sanniji Ichifun
The leader of the Defiers and Juuniji's older brother. Sanniji is ruthless, charismatic, and incredibly intelligent, thus allowing the Defiers to last as long as they have. He's also a good swordsman, and an incredibly crafty diplomat.
Juuniji Ichifun
One of the highest ranking generals on the side of the Defiers, most due to being its leader's little brother, Juuniji is something along the lines of Souta's rival. He is an accomplished assassin, and rarely pilots mecha, though he is quite good at it. Souta Reandis is one of the few people who can really break his calm exterior. His fighting style is very simple and utilitarian- he uses very little in the ways of flair and the mechs he uses are much the same. He pilots the DF-01.
Steven Korz
A mid-rank but talented pilot for the Defiers. Steven fights with a very wild style, and his temper is one of the factors keeping him from promotion. Pilots the Gestalt.
Luther Bane
An aged veteran pilot for the Defiers, Luther has been involved in the war since the beginning. Originally a fighter pilot, his jet was eventually modified into the Destralt as mecha were developed by both sides.
Mecha
Destiny Sect
Gemini Series
MP Gemini
The mainstay of the Destiny Sect forces, the MP Gemini is a fairly dull unit. It doesn't focus on any one area, having both a handheld machinegun and two combat knives. The idea was developed by Xian Kenise during his latter years at the university, but the line wasn't able to be developed and perfected until about five years into the war.
Gemini Alpha
The very first mech ever built for the DS. A precursor to the standard Gemini, it was constructed about three years into the war, after Xian Kenise spent about a year pestering people and perfecting the prototype systems to be used in the machine. Upon actually building it, Xian was promoted from a lowly mechanic to Head of Invention in his particular field. The Gemini Alpha was flawed, however, due to its low mobility and fuel inefficiency.
Gemini Beta
This was built about a year after the Gemini Alpha, boasting much better fuel efficiency and a full cross-thruster system. Unfortunately, it still cost too much to produce, and thus it was another year before the MP Gemini could be completed and made.
Gemini-01
Gemini Alpha, upgraded and modernized by Xian for Zian Ren's personal use. Is armed with a wrist-mounted ether blade and a handgun. Blade can channel elemental energy and either be used in melee or open and fire the energy directly. Though most of its inner workings were modified and upgraded, its thrusting power was never changed, thus it is still sluggish compared to the other machines. Xian added a large cloak at Zian's request- it serves no functional purpose. As an added note, the handgun can be loaded with paint ammo for training purposes.
Gemini-02
Gemini Beta, modernized and upgraded by Xian for Kimu Ren's personal use. Is armed with a handgun, an ether rapier, and a prototype shield- mostly to test the material. It has enhanced thrusters and is thus faster than the MP model, but it lacks the capability for long-range elemental force strikes and is thus all-but-useless in anything but short range. Like the Gemini-01, it can also use paint ammo for training purposes.
Gemini-X
Xian Kenise's personal machine, upgraded from a normal MP Gemini. Is something of a testbed for any and all ideas Xian recieves, and thus its armaments usually don't stay with it for long. It rarely sees battle, as the Destiny Sect considers Xian too valuable to lose, even though he's an exceptional pilot. Its basic armaments are a large cleaver-type melee weapon and a handgun similar to that found on the Gemini-01 and 02. It has also been seeing carrying the "Rendition Punch", a large heat-generating punching glove, a immensely unwieldly gatling gun occassionally adopted by the MP Geminis, and a two-handed utterly massive version of its cleaver. Occasionally, Xian will launch as "Captain Rendition" to hide the fact he is in battle despite the High Priests forbidding it, and the unit will be similarly camoflauged.
Revaltz
Revaltz's origins are mostly unknown. Souta finds it in his back yard, with no clue how it got there or where it came from. It has an X shaped thruster, like the Gemini-02, though it has greater output. Supposedly Revaltz chooses its own pilot, and it chose Alex, though Souta told it otherwise.
Revaltz is mostly a melee-oriented machine. It has a Strike Chain, which can be used both as a long-range heat-rod like weapon and solidified into a sort of sword. It's mounted on the right wrist. On the left wrist is a chaingun, the only long-range weapon on the mech.
Defiers
Guardian Series
The series of mechs mass-produced by the Defiers. Unlike their Destiny Sect counterparts, Defier-mechs tend to have thrusters all over their body, as opposed to mounting huge ones on the back. As a result, Defier-made mechs are more manueverable, while Destiny Sect mechs have more raw speed.
Sentinel
The mainstay of Defier forces. The Sentinel was developed around the same time the MP Gemini line was completed. It is armed with a titanium-alloy blade and a shotgun. It's fairly dull otherwise.
Centurion
The second mass-produced mech that was successful for the Defiers was the Centurion, which was entirely long-ranged. In fact, its only armament is a Beam Bazooka, developed in conjunction with Gestalt's Beam Saber but much more efficient.
Prototypes
Destralt
A transforming mech, built from a modernized fighting jet used by Luther Bane in the beginning of the war. It is extremely light in either configuration, and quite fast as well. Its only weapon is a collection of four Bit Strikers, remote-controlled weapons which resemble barrels with gunbarrels sticking out of them. Each Bit Striker is a railgun-sort of weapon, and they make up half of each limb on the mech-form of the machine. In addition to normal firing, the barrels can spread and launch the bullet with an added bit of electrical energy that can strike multiple opponents. In addition, the Bit Strikers' gunbarrels are strong enough to be effective in melee combat.
DF-01
Juuniji's personal mech. Designed simultaneously with the Sentinel, but much more effective(and expensive). It has two mortar-style cannons under its shoulders, as well as a stand machine rifle. Its real power, however, is in its drones.
DF-01 drone
A set of three tiny remote-contolled mechs that assist DF-01. They are armed only with small swords and machineguns, but are devastating when used correctly, allowing a four-directional assault on any foe.
Gestalt
A pair of machines developed to further the study of advanced A.I. and armor plating.
Gestalt A
The main part of the body, Gestalt A is pilotted by Steven Korz. It has a prototype Beam Saber, which is horribly inefficient, though its pilot makes use of a quick activation/reactivation style of fighting and is thus somewhat effective with it. On its back is a giant turtle-shell like shield, the Gestalt B.
Gestalt B
Normally a shield on Gestalt A's back, Gestalt B is an AI controlled mech, which can seperate. Its only real armaments are four double-barreled machine cannons, on its arms, head, and pelvis. The AI is tweaked and works especially well with Steven.
Neutral
The Hornet
A powered armor with only primitive thrusting ability- a single vernier, in fact. It has been customised by its pilot to work in his hermit cave- it has an array of strings in its Sting(it's on the right arm), which it uses to pull itself towards walls/pillars/opponents. Requires an incredible amount of finesse to be effective, but its pilot doesn't exactly have much else to do...
Olegard
Built out of junk, and is Kiam's "masterpiece". No two parts are from the same mech- some parts aren't even from mechs at all, such as the two attached car doors serve as its shield. However, unlike robots of a similar nature, it still performs quite well, and is equipped with a missile array, a fist strong enough to melee with, and a Force Manipulator. This device, which appears to be a huge jeweled cudgel on the left arm, changes the magnetic properties of objects, causing them to form whatever the program decides on- these routines have to be painstakingly programmed in by Kiam prior to battle.
