Academy Arcane

The project, named for an old BESM campaign from #rm2k_anime, is a concept that GearType2 came up with. The idea is that there would be several games all telling stories taking place at the same time and centered around the same place, but following the individual adventures of different characters.

The "place" that this is all centered around is a magical academy, and the characters are the students who attend it. The actual events that take place in each game are up to the individual creators, though in an effort at keeping a strong continuity, there will be an effort to keep track of a fairly complete timeline of major events in each one. The goal here is that when people play these games, they'll feel like they're really playing in the same world.

How Continuous Are We Talking?

The current plan is to have setting-based continuity, but with each creator interpreting things his own way. So while there might be a general idea of where things are "The forest is next to the school," the maps for the areas and even the visual and aural styles of the areas will be up to the creators.

There will be some overlap in characters, too. Again, interpretations are up to the individuals, but there should be some guidelines for how a character "is" before we see each interpretation. There's a strong possibility that in addition to the students knowing one another and whatever faculty and staff is necessary, there may be a few Recurring Comic Villains present, or Mascot Characters.
